So I attempted, to the best of my ability, to finish his story.

I doubt this is what he had in mind. I had a vague idea of what he had planned for Chapter 8.

...'Vague" being the keyword here.

I had a really hard time connecting the missing plot threads, writing a satisfactory ending, and keeping the characters' personalities intact. It was difficult, and I'm not happy with it at all. I felt like I was a child clumsily imitating something.

It's even embarrassing to admit how lost I was on how it was going to end. I knew who was going to die and who was going to live, but not the how and why. I more or less had an idea of the songs he wanted to use, but not the exact scenes. I knew he wanted this and that to happen, but not how and when.

In the end, chapter 8 ended up becoming something almost completely from my own mind. Thus, one might consider that chapter fanfiction.

This might be a deal breaker for you. I know it would be for me if something I enjoyed suddenly changed hands at the last minute.

...But I wanted to give these characters some closure. After years and years of working on this cast, it would feel even more wrong if I just abandoned this project like he did.

Play it if you want. Don't play it if you don't want to. In the end, fiction persists through us. My ending of Morishun won't be as legit as yours plainly because I happened to have access to the game's files and WIP content.

...I'm unsure of how to end this post.
