ABOUT
I'm a queer Brazilian game developer. I go by Meiri, but you can call me Mei. I've loved reading and videogames since I was a kid. My favorite game ever made is Rune Factory 4, and my first ever visual novel was Lux-Pain.
My game development adventures began in 2013; a very silly RPG Maker game titled 'The Amazing and Epic Adventures of Raguna.' I shared it with my friends and quickly got addicted to the process. Infamously, I was stuck on the same ambitious project, 'Apple Pie', for 7 years.
After allowing myself to let go of that project, I began to make games using Ren'py. The passion I had for game development reignited in full force - especially with the success of 'MyGF', and since 2020, I've released about 8 games!
Outside of game dev, I'm a psychology student hoping to become a therapist in the future. I study and work (unpaid internships!) full-time, so game dev is just a hobby... one I'm extremely passionate about and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
YOUR SUPPORT
The money received from donations and game purchases is stored in a special piggy bank dedicated to my projects - to hire artists, programmers, etc. So far, I've been able to commission a mascot design and a purchase a dev license for Google Play!
There at least a dozen game ideas I want to work on, but can't due to my own limitations. Pixel art, more complex game design, production of original soundtracks and backgrounds, or even voice acting are a few things that I can't do myself.
Although there is a lot I want to do, I don't work with volunteers at the moment, as that makes the possibility of commercial releases more difficult. I only do collab works with my close friends, and those will always be free.
MY GOALS
- ...To create stories that reflect queer identities and experiences, emphasizing queer characters, themes, and storylines.
- ...To explore new game mechanics and experiment with different types of games to push the boundaries of what's possible in game development.
- ...To incorporate player's feedback in current and future projects, in the search for constant improvement, technologically and narratively.
- ...To foster a healthy, anti-crunch culture in game dev-adjacent spaces.
